CLARENCE LILLEY

Funeral Services for Clarence Raymond Lilley of Elsberry, MO were at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Elsberry First Christian Church. Rev. Kris Hagemeier, church pastor, officiated.

Clarence, 84, was born on July 11, 1941 in Elsberry, the son of Joseph A. and Hattie A. Meyer Lilley. He passed away Wednesday evening, July 16, 2025 at the Elsberry Health Care Center. At the age of five, Clarence was diagnosed with polio. During his high school career, Clarence was the basketball team manager, playing his senior year; and a 1959 graduate of Elsberry High School. He went on to attend Gem City Business College for one year. Clarence lived in Chicago for 20 years and worked in the business office for Helene Curtis. Clarence moved back home to care for his mother. He worked as a custodian for the Elsberry R-2 School District, retiring in 2004 after 25 years of service.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hattie Lilley; one brother, Robert Lilley; and one sister, Mary Jo Lilley.
Survivors include one brother, John Lilley and his wife, Yolonda “Lonnie”, of Elsberry; one sister-in-law, Norma Lilley of Winfield, MO; his niece, Melissa Hiatt of Winfield; and his nephews: Matthew Lilley of Elsberry, Darrell Lilley and his wife, Janice, of Canada, and Robert Joseph Lilley and his wife, Betty, of Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Clarence also leaves his loving cousins: Gene Lilley and Joy Lou Early; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Elsberry First Christian Church.
