Mike Hartley

Gary Michael “Mike” Hartley I, 74, of Elsberry, MO, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, MO on December 29, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 22, 1950, in St Louis, MO. Mike was a selfless man, friend to all, and loved his community. Mike was a 1968 graduate on Elsberry High School. He united in marriage to Judy Marie Dotson. This union was blessed with four children: Michelle, Mike, Matt and Julie.

Mike was an entrepreneur, known for his bright smile, unwavering kindness, and strong work ethic. He proudly served in the United States Army, dedicated over 30 years to New Hope Lodge, # 199, A. F. & A. M. in Elsberry, and a member and past Commander to The American Legion Post # 226. An avid bass fisherman, Mike cherished time outdoors and valued the simple joys in life. His family, friends, and community were also at the center of his heart. His infectious laugh and genuine love for life left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Mike is survived by his beloved children, Michelle Fields and her husband Rob of Old Monroe, MO, Mike Hartley II and his wife Tami of Elsberry, Matt Hartley and his wife Mandy of Elsberry, and Julie Redd and her husband Josh of Lake Saint Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mike also leaves behind a special friend, Donna Litherland, many other relatives and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen Hartley; his brother, Charles Ronnie Hartley; and his sister, Muriel Jeanette Temple.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home. Rev. Jess Wilson of Green Valley Church of Hartville, MO will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Dameron, Mark Terrell, Pauly Reed, Jeff Ivy, Mike Henebry, Buddy Presley, Mike Talbot and Bill Blakey.
