It was quite a summer for United Methodist Church in Elsberry and even more of a productive start to fall as they have finished the construction of LaCrosse Park on Broadway.
“The park is probably 99.9 percent complete,” said United Methodist Pastor Paul Garven. “I think it turned out better than we could have possibly expected.”
According to Garven, when the project initially started and even through the construction of the park, they were working from a “pencil and paper idea.” As the park began to take shape, sketches quickly seemed to become reality, including the installation of the playground equipment, which is in the east back corner of the park.
“The playground equipment came from a company that was using it as a demo,” said Garven. “Once we were able to locate and pick that up at a extremely low cost and install the meditation or devotional area in the west rear corner, it just all seemed to come about wonderfully.”
