Theft at convenience store results in arrest

On Tuesday, May 29, Elsberry Police Chief Brian Jeffries was dispatched to Abel’s Quik Shop in Elsberry in regards to a theft that occurred the day before.

The store manager advised that a unknown male stole three bottles of liquor by stuffing them in his clothing. All of which was caught on video.

After being confronted by an employee he gave one of the bottles back.

Later that same day the suspect was seen by an Abel’s employee walking into Family Dollar in Elsberry.

The suspect identified as Harris Latone, 33, of Elsberry was taken into custody. He was charged with Three Counts of Misdemeanor Stealing.

It was also discovered that LaTone had an active warrant. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and was released into their custody.
