A traffic stop for a missing license plate on Hwy. E in Silex led authorities to the discovery of methamphetamine inside a man’s vehicle.

According to a probable cause statement, a deputy began searching the truck belonging to Casey Lee Thomas, 34, of Duncan Mansion Drive, after Thomas began acting “nervous” and making “furtive movements” during the stop.

A K-9 unit alerted authorities to the passenger front side of the vehicle. After opening up the hood and looking inside the engine compartment, the deputy found a tube wrapped in electrical tape between the truck’s fire wall and battery compartment. Closer inspection revealed the tube to contain several small bags of methamphetamine, together totaling one ounce.
