The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received notice this week that they have been awarded the Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplementation Grant [DSSSF].

Work began on the grant in January and the final solicitation was submitted in April.

“During the solicitation period the Missouri Department of Public Safety [DPS] received over $10.5 million in deputy salary supplementation grant requests from sheriff’s throughout the state,” said Lincoln County Sheriff John Cottle. “However, DPS only had $5 million in available funding and Lincoln County was a beneficiary of the available money.”

The DSSSF Grant was created pursuant to Missouri Statute, which collects monies from charges for services received by county sheriffs.

These monies are deemed to belong to the state and as such they are deposited into the state treasury.

All DSSSF funding is administered and dispersed by the Missouri Sheriff Methamphetamine Relief Taskforce.

“Only County Sheriff’s Offices are eligible applicants for the DSSSF Grant,” said Cottle. “The application process requires each Sheriff to justify a need to supplement a full-time licensed deputy salary beyond their current pay scale.”
