It has been an eventful week for the Lincoln County Sheriffs office, as they have detained two Elsberry listed residents on charges of sexual molestation and statutory rape.

The first investigation began in late July, when 48-year-old Hershel Brown was identified by a nine-year-old female for sexual molestation. According to investigators, Brown was a friend of the victim’s family, who was visiting his home when the crime allegedly took place.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned Brown was an absconding sex offender for failing to register his residence with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Brown was subsequently arrested and charged with First Degree Statutory Sodomy, Child Molestation and Failing to register as a Sex Offender. He is currently housed at the Lincoln

Then on July 23, the Lincoln County Sheriffs office began investigating a Statutory Rape case regarding a 15-year old female victim. According to investigators, the victim identified 21-year old Trever A. Sawyer as the suspect in an interview.

The victim stated she communicated with Sawyer via an iPod to the name “Uncle Trevor.”

A search warrant of Sawyer’s iPod revealed multiple messages from him to the victim confirming the rape. In addition, Sawyer sent specific instructions to the victim to lie and directions on how to destroy her iPod.

While interviewing with investigators Sawyer stated he, “wanted to die” and felt suicidal. He was admitted to an area hospital for an evaluation.

Sawyer was charged with 2nd Degree Statutory Rape and Tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution. Bond is currently set at $50,000 cash only.

However, it’s not just the Lincoln County Sheriffs office that have been busy, as an Annada man was arrested and placed in the Pike County Jail for allegedly trying to entice two 14-year-old Louisiana teens into his vehicle for sex.

Patrick Joseph Nohren, 27, was arrested Friday, July 26 after a warrant was issued by the Pike County Circuit Court Judge Chris Kunza Mennemeyer, following the investigation by Louisiana Police. He is charged with two felony counts of attempted sexual enticement of a child under 15, according to online court records.

The case came to light when a Louisiana teen reported Thursday, July 25 that Nohren allegedly drove by her home slowly and asked her to get into his car, according to a probable cause statement from Louisiana Police. The teen then ran inside her home to get away from him.

Just a few hours later, the teen was walking down Georgia Street with a friend, when Nohren allegedly drove up again, the statement said. At that point, he allegedly made a lewd gesture to the teens referring to a sex act. The teens then ran to the friend’s home, where they called police. At 2:32 p.m. Nohren was pulled over by Louisiana Police at the corner of Fourth and Tennessee streets and was taken to the Louisiana police Department for questioning.

While there, Nohren allegedly admitted he was “attempting to acquire sexual favors from two girls and didn’t know they were not 18,” according to the police statement.

Court dates are pending for Nohren.

Those charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
