School fundraisers an integral part of stretching its budget

One of the great benefits of a small community is fantastic community support for the local school.

Each year Elsberry Middle School does one major fundraiser for the year, partnering with Great American to host a magazine sales drive allowing the school to keep 40% of the profit.

With this profit the middle school stretches its budget to pay for extra field trips, incentives for students, and special class projects that wouldn’t normally fit within the yearly funds available.

All the profit goes directly to benefit students in some form. Students who sell magazines win a variety of prizes ranging from cash and electronic gadgets to a Limo ride or a trip to a Cardinals baseball game.

Any community member who would like to renew or purchase a magazine can do so through any middle school student, however the purchase can be made even easier online.

To order online, go to GASCHOOLSTORE.COM and enter the school code 753939. Those who purchase online can still designate a student to receive credit for the sales toward prize packages. According to middle school principal, Jason Miller, last year the sales drive brought in over $2600 to the school.

Miller went on to say, “We wish fundraisers weren’t necessary, but we are so appreciative for the community support. With the money made we try to really enhance students’ educational experiences and provide them with special trips, projects, and incentives that they normally would not be exposed to using our normal budget. We are extremely blessed to have strong and proud community support for our students.”
