Running to the Wall

Posted on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 9:36 am

The Run for the Wall bikers will be traveling across the United States and stopping at Wentzville VFW Post 5327 on the evening of May 20. This stop is one of many during the ride where approximately 700 to 900 bikers will make a trip to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC. They ride to promote healing among all veterans, their families and friends. Also, to call for the accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA), to honor the memory of those Killed in Action (KIA) from all wars, and to support the military personnel all over the world. When they arrive at the Wentzville VFW Post 5327 a plaque will be hanging on the wall that was made by Elsberry resident Joe John Ferdinand II to commemorate the event. Ferdinand dedicated many hours to the plaque to honor the sacrifice of his brothers and sisters lost in the war.

The Run for the Wall starts May 15 and then takes ten days to reach the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, where it officially ends on Sunday evening before Memorial Day. For more information on the Run for the Wall
