Weather permitting, Monday and Tuesday night, March 18 and 19, crews will be temporarily stopping traffic on US 61 near the new South Lincoln Drive interchange at Troy while the concrete girders for the new interchange bridge are being set.
On Monday, March 18, crews will close the northbound lanes just north of South Lincoln Drive to set girders over those lanes throughout the night. On Tuesday, March 19, the southbound lanes will be closed from the Route 47 exit to just north of South Lincoln Drive to set girders over those lanes.
Intermittent stopping of traffic could cause delays of 15 to 20 minutes at various intervals between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.
“It is necessary to stop traffic while the girders are being moved and set in place over the roadway,” said Erik Maninga, Area Engineer for MoDOT. “We anticipate the work being completed in two days, however, we will keep motorists informed with message boards if work must be extended additional days.”
To avoid delays, motorists are urged to use alternate routes during this time. During the work, variable message boards will be set up advising motorists of the road closure. Construction equipment will be entering and exiting the work zone, motorists are urged to use caution and obey all road construction signs.
