After kicking off the season with practice meets at Montgomery County and Orchard Farm, the Elsberry Track and Field teams headed to Bowling Green on April 8 to test their respective metal against 10 other local teams.
For Elsberry, this was the first meet of the season where scores actually counted and it was a welcome opportunity for students to post impressive numbers at a time when they would really be noticed.
On the varsity men’s side of the action, Donovan Guccione came in at fifth place in the 200-meter event with a time of 24.91.
Alex Simpson posted a time of 27.84 in that same event.
In the 400-meter event, Ethan Miller finished in fifth place with a time of 53.71.
Additionally, Jack Weakly placed 11th in the 1600-meter event with a time of 5:59.00.
Simpson then returned to compete in the 110m hurdles where he finished in ninth place with a time of 21.90.
In the discus competition, Nick Daly placed 16th with a throw of 62-06.
Guccione then placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5-02-00.
Miller and Daly both competed in the long jump event.
Miller placed fourth with a jump of 17-09.00 and Daly 13th with a distance of 11-05.00.
