(Below is the essay Kelsey Pflasterer wrote)

Americanism is important because we can show people in other countries how much we care about our country. It is important for me to promote Americanism because I think people should know more about our country. I can personally promote Americanism by recognizing the Fourth of July, thanking our veterans, and showing respect to the flag.

One way I can show Americanism is by recognizing the Fourth of July. I’m going to do this by making a Fourth of July float. I am going to have my family help me build it and put it in the local parade. Everyone in my town can see the float. This will promote Americansim by getting a lot of people interested and celebrating the Fourth of July.

Another way I can show Americanism is by thanking veterans for how they’ve protected us. I’m going to do this by helping elementary students write letters to the veterans. I will show them an example and help them get theirs written. I will have them stand by a flag and hold their letters while I take their picture. The letters and pictures will get sent to the American Legion so that they can get to veterans. This will promote Americanism because the kids will be more interested and show respect for all veterans.

A third way I can show Americanism is by showing respect to the flag. I’m going to do this by passing out flags in my community with a interesting fact on them. I can get interesting facts by searching on the internet and gluing them to the flags. I will try to get other states to do the same thing by showing what I’m doing on social media. This will promote Americanism by everyone having a flag and everyone will appreciate and know more about the flag.

Americanism is important because without it people wouldn’t get along. It is important for us to promote Americansim so that we all get along and work together. I will personally promote Americanism by recognizing the Fourth of July, thanking our veterans, showing respect to the flag.
