Peoples Bank and Trust; Community bankers for community families

Elsberry Customer Appreciation Day in 2011 at Peoples Bank & Trust. Each year the bank branches host a Customer Appreciation event where they have food, give-a-ways and customers can register to win prizes.

For approximately 100-years now Peoples Bank & Trust has lived under the motto that community is the most important thing, period.

Peoples Bank & Trust opened up their Elsberry Branch in 2005 after several customers voiced they were driving to Troy on a constant basis to bank. According to Bank Manager John Armstrong, it just seemed to make sense. Since then the Elsberry branch has grown beyond expectations and has been able to place a hard foundation throughout the community with scholarships, sponsorships and most importantly trust.

“We have a lot of business customers as well as farming customers and general deposit customers,” explained Armstrong. “But again that was the main reason for this branch opening, there was a need and we wanted to fill it.”

Armstrong went on to say how Peoples Bank & Trust is a community oriented bank, calling it their ‘bread and butter.’ Beyond just trying to fill the needs of convenience and basic banking needs, he explained that there isn’t too much they turn down, when it comes to helping a charity or organization or a good cause.

“We have been in Lincoln County since 1947 and has grown a great deal over the years,” repeated Armstrong. “However, even with all its success, we have never said we are the bank of Hawkpoint or we are the bank of Elsberry; we say we are going to serve the people of Lincoln County and its surrounding. We are the bank of the people.”
