Elsberry Schools Orange out the Night this past Thursday was nothing short of amazing.
The coordinated effort to raise money for Tiffani Rockwell-Fomera to help in her fight against brain cancer raised $12,000, more than double what has ever been raised at an Orange Out event.
Event coordinator and Media Liaison, Kim Jones said, “I was totally stunned at our final amount, but overjoyed to that so many stepped in to help one of our own.”
According to Jones funds came from up front shirt sponsors, shirt sales, silent auction, chili supper and personal donations.
Not only was she contacted by people in this community, but people and businesses countywide. Former co-workers and college friends of Rockwell-Fomera’s even joined in to help make the event so successful.
Rockwell-Fomera and her family had this to say to everyone about the evening, “We deeply appreciate everything and can’t tell you how blessed we feel to work and live with such compassionate people who step up when there is a need. We didn’t ask for this burden in our lives, but we are certainly glad to have such a caring group of people behind us each and every day. We don’t know what the future holds for us but your efforts have given us an opportunity to breathe a little easier right now. We appreciate your prayers as well.”
