In sports, individual achievements can be gratifying, but for Lady Indians pitcher Felicia Pruitt the team victory meant everything…even more than a NO-HITTER?
Pruitt and the Lady Indians faced off against the Crystal City Lady Hornets at home Thursday and both dominated their opponent to the tune of a 10-1 victory.
Pruitt struck out 15 Lady Hornet hitters, twice striking out the side, on her way to a No-Hitter. She was named the Indian Sports Network Player of the Game. However, in the post-game interview the team victory was all she wanted to talk about.
When asked about the no-hitter Pruitt said “the team win is what matters.”
She’s right it was a team victory. The offense put 10 runs on the board with a combination of speed and timely hitting and the defense behind Pruitt was outstanding making some very hard plays look easy.
“Flea (Pruitt) kept the ball away from the hitters well,” said Head Coach Trudy Bull. “She had them guessing by moving the ball around and hitting her spots. Even on her walks she hit her spots, they just didn’t bite.”
Pruitt also commented on what was working for her “I was throwing my rise ball pretty well.”
