Alderman Kindred believes Mayor is a major part of Police Department inadequacies

After a seven-hour hearing last Tuesday evening (June 23), Elsberry’s Police Chief Sam Steward was terminated. The 4-2 (Aye: Boswell, Harper, Kindred and Mahurin; Nay: Copeland and Gladney) decision came after the motion was moved by Alderman Bob Kindred and seconded by Bill Boswell.

The hearing cam about after Kindred requested a closed session after the conclusion of the May general meeting, to discuss the “hiring, firing, promotion or discipline of a city employee.”
