The annual Elsberry High School Alumni Banquet was held May 3 in the Clark Cox Gymnasium. This year’s 50’s themed banquet was donned “Class of 1958 Rock- N- Rolls to Detroit.” The gym was decorated with red and white table cloths, car balloons, rearview mirrors complete with fuzzy dice and 50’s Rock n’ Roll themed table decorations.
Dinner was provided by M & B Catering of Troy. After dinner, entertainment was performed by the EHS Pep Band under the director of Lisa McMahon, band teacher. They completed their performance by playing the school song.
The class of 2008 was welcomed into the Alumni Association by Wes Fakes, Vice President and emcee for the evening. The senior response was made by Heather Zerrer, Class President. Chris Dameron and Kayla Murphy were named Outstanding Seniors.
The earliest male and female graduates were honored, as well as the person traveling the farthest. The spokesman for the Class of 1958, 50 year honorees, was Randall Gray, Class President. He spoke about some of the classes adventures throughout school and each graduate introduced themselves and their spouse and told where they lived.
Spokesman for the 25 year class, the class of 1983, was David Lake. He told the Seniors to tell those they appreciate and who have made a difference in their lives thank you, before it is too late. The 25 year grads also introduced themselves and their spouses.
During the business meeting, secretary and treasurer reports were given and approved. In new business, a motion was moved and passed to raise the ticket price to $15 next year, due to the rising food costs.
The evening was concluded with a roll call by Hazel Gladney.
