Marcella Lorraine Tayon
Funeral Services for Marcella Lorraine Tayon of Winfield, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of First Baptist Church of Winfield, officiated with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Foley. Serving as pallbearers were David Meadows, Ray Meadows, Ricky Masterson, Reggie Clowers, Wayne Wehde, Tyler Wehde and Derrick Miller.
Mrs. Tayon, 89, died early Thursday morning, Dec. 6, 2012 at Mount Carmel in St. Charles. Born Nov. 24, 1923 in Foley, she was the daughter of Frank Marcellus and Frederica J. “Ishe” Tannehill Sanders. She graduated high school in Elsberry. She worked as a secretary for Malcolm Reed Trucking and later as a seamstress for Angelica Manufacturing. She was united in marriage on March 28, 1944 in Elsberry to William Randall Tayon. This union was blessed with one son, William Frank. She then was a homemaker. Mrs. Tayon was a member of the AMA DE CASA Club in Winfield and the MO Extension Homemakers Club in Troy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Frederica Sanders; one brother, Perry Thomas Sanders; one great-nephew, Jeff Meadows; and her beloved husband of 44 years, Randall Tayon on Oct. 4, 1988.
Survivors include her son, Bill F. Tayon, and his companion, Paula Martell, of St. Peters; one sister Darline Morris of Winfield; one brother-in-law, Gerald Tayon and his wife, Betty, of Winfield; and one sister-in-law Donna Sanders of Foley. She also leaves one nephew, David Meadows and his wife, Melba, of Winfield and one step-nephew, Danny Broyles and his wife, Pat, of Foley; three nieces: Linda Meadows of Winfield and Tammy Miller and her husband, James, of Troy and Loeta Wesselschmidt, and her husband, Michael, of O’Fallon; three great-nephews: Ray Meadows and his wife, Melissa, of O’Fallon, Jeffrey Wesselschmidt of New York City, NY, and Andy Wesselschmidt of St Joseph; one great, great-niece, Breanna Meadows; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Kenneth Lee Fakes
Mr. Kenneth Lee Fakes, 81, of Ashland, formerly of Elsberry, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 4, 2012 at Ashland Villas in Ashland.
Born Feb. 6, 1931 in Hanston, KS, he was the son of Chester Ben and Alice Jeanette Mead Fakes. After graduating high school in Kansas, he went on to serve his country in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict from April 1, 1952 until being honorable discharged as a Cpl on March 4, 1954. He was united in marriage on July 13, 1952 in Elsberry to Elizabeth Charlene Hines. This union was blessed with four children: Cathy, Karen, Ben and Joe. He worked for 13 years as a sheet metal worker for McDonnell Douglas. Mr. Fakes was also a self employed carpenter. He then worked for 15 years as a stocker and door greater for Wal-Mart. He was a member of the American Legion Post #226 and was past Commander. He was also a member of the former Odd Fellows Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Alice Fakes; two brothers: Edward Max Fakes and Chester Ben Fakes and his wife, Mildred; one sister, Jessie Hausgen and her husband, Richard; and his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Elizabeth Fakes on July 12, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters: Cathy Cooper and her husband, Harry, of Elsberry and Karen Wolf and her husband, Terry, of Hayes, KS; and two sons: Ben Fakes and his wife, Claudia, of New Llano, LA and Joe Fakes of Elsberry. He also leaves six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren, nine step-great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Inurnment and Military Honors will be held at a later date. William Edwin “Bill” England, Jr. of Louisiana died Friday, Dec 7, 2012 at the age of 76.
