John L. Gibson, 62, of Troy, is being charged with first-degree assault, felonious restraint and armed criminal action in an incident occurring at 3:30 a.m. on June 26. on Forest Ridge.
According to the documents, a deputy sheriff was dispatched to Forest Ridge Lane in reference to an assault involving a gun. Upon arrival, the officer as met by two witnesses, the alleged victim and Gibson. The two witnesses stated they were downstairs with Gibson and the victim upstairs when they heard the victim scream and then a gunshot coming out of the bedroom. Witnesses fled the home and called police. The victim told police that Gibson allegedly pointed a semi-automatic pistol at her head and fired a single shot above her head, adding he held her against her will until Gibsons saw police outside. A protective sweep of the residence revealed glass pipes, consistent with drug use and a bullet hole was located in the bedroom wall consistent with the victim’s account.
Bond was set at $250,000 cash only on Gibson. He was also ordered not to make contact with the victim.
Those charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
