Legion Baseball in Elsberry is officially over for the summer.
The only action remaining is that of the A and AA All Star Games which will be played at New Haven on July 26.
The Elsberry A teams, coached by Jeff Keiser and Jason Howard, ended their season on July 12 at the district tournament.
Keiser’s team was ineligible to play in that tournament following their loss to Warrenton at home on July 3.
Howard’s team competed in the tournament but was eliminated by St. Charles on July 12.
That being the case, all attention shifted to the AA and AAA teams.
Coach Gregg White’s AA squad qualified for zone play and faced both Chilicothe and Washington on the road.
On July 17 White’s team defeated Chilicothe 10-2 to advance in the tournament.
Unfortunately, the boys then lost to Washington on July 18 by a final score of 5-1.
In later action on July 18, the team once again faced Chilicothe.
This time, however, Chilicothe had learned from their previous mistakes and walked away with a 5-4 victory, effectively eliminating Elsberry from the contest.
Joe Pott’s AAA team started the week with a 3-1 win over Daniel Boone at home on July 16.
They then went on the road to square off against St. Charles, Pacific and Washington in the district tournament.
Elsberry lost to St. Charles on July 17 by a score of 17-2 but rebounded to beat Pacific 9-3 on July 18.
Their dreams of a district title ended, however, with a 9-4 loss to Washington on July 19.
