On March 28 the Eastern Missouri (EMO) Conference hosted its 6th annual Basketball Senior Showcase games at North Callaway High School.
Elsberry seniors participating in the games included Dylan Howard and Passion Hunter-Edwards.
Coaches for the boy’s teams were Craig Smith from Clopton High School and Ken Jett from Community R-6.
Larry Lagemann from Clopton High School and Matt Miller from North Callaway coached the girl’s teams.
Players were divided into white and dark teams and in some cases had to face off against athletes from their own schools.
Hunter-Edwards represented Elsberry on the dark team for the girls.
She went 1/9 in the game and scored two points.
Hunter-Edwards also had one rebound and two steals.
Unfortunately, Hunter-Edwards and her team were ultimately defeated by a final score of 75-62.
On the boy’s side of the action, Elsberry’s Dylan Howard scored 16 points for the dark team in their razor-thin 107-106 victory.
Howard was 7/16 on the night and went 2/7 from three-point range.
He rounded his game out with five rebounds, one steal and one assist.
The event also featured a three-point shooting contest.
Shelby Dunn from Clopton High School won the girl’s three-point contest.
She went on to face the boy’s champion Jerad Jordan of Montgomery County where she lost 13-9.
In between games EMO Conference coaches and administrators were recognized for their contributions to the event.
Additionally, the conference raised $300 by auctioning off two autographed basketballs.
