On July 16 The Elsberry Democrat brought readers the story of John Hood, 84, of Eolia.
Hood is a veteran of the Korean War and displayed some of his military memorabilia at the Elsberry Nutrition Center.
One of the artifacts that Hood shared with visitors was a set of 40-millimeter anti-aircraft shells from the USS Missouri.
That July 16 article served to trigger the memories of Elsberry resident Jesse Cox.
Cox is not only a veteran who saw action in Korea, but he was actually assigned to a tank that was armed with 40-millimeter shells just like those that Hood displayed during his presentation.
