O’Brien, a Democrat, served as deputy county clerk for Lincoln County from 2013 until earlier this year. Prior to that, she was a bookkeeper for more than a decade at Creason Automotive in Troy. O’Brien has nearly 30 years’ experience in accounting and financial management-related positions.
“Brenda O’Brien’s decades of experience and commitment to her community will serve the people of Lincoln County well as their county treasurer,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am pleased to appoint her to this important position.”
O‘Brien will be sworn into office Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. by Crystal Hall, County Clerk.
O’Brien was nominated by the Democratic Central Committee to fill the vacancy. She plans on filing for a full term when the filing for county offices begin Feb. 23.
“I’m excited about this position and will serve the citizens of the county to the best of my ability,” she said.
She and her husband, Sean, are the parents of three grown children.
Carrie Wehde who has been serving Lincoln County as treasurer on an interim basis, will remain as the deputy treasurer.
