What is one of your fondest memories as an educator – My first year of teaching I had a sunburn. While most of it faded pretty quickly, my nose stayed red for several days. So, a few of my boys made up a song called Mrs. Garland the Red Nosed Teacher. They still remember the words and stop by and remind me about it on occasion. Needless to say it was quite humorous.

What is one of your fondest memories as an educator –- One of my fondest memories as an educator was when I chaperoned the 8th grade trip to Chicago. In Chicago, we went to the Science and Industry Museum, the Sears Tower, and had Chicago-style pizza. I really enjoyed observing my students as they saw the Chicago skyline for the first time and as they experienced all the great exhibits at the Science and Industry Museum. Most of my students had never been out of our small, Illinois town, so the trip for them was extra special.
