Lincoln County Executive Director Joe Linneman for USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers that June 3 is the final day to enroll in the Average Crop Revenue Protection (ACRE) program for the 2013 crop year.
ACRE is a revenue-based safety net, as opposed to the price-based safety net provided by counter-cyclical payments through the Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP).
The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 extended both the ACRE and DCP programs for the 2013 crop year. The extension allows producers to choose to enroll either program for 2013. The program provisions are unchanged from 2012, except that eligible producers who were enrolled in ACRE in 2012 may elect to enroll in DCP in 2013 or may re-enroll in ACRE in 2013. Likewise, producers who were enrolled in DCP may opt for ACRE enrollment.
To enroll in ACRE, producers should contact Lincoln County FSA office at 636-528-4113 to schedule an appointment by the June 3rd deadline. The deadline to enroll in DCP is August 2nd.
