Never shy in lending a helping hand, the Elsberry VFW Post 9064 is at it again. In an effort to help raise funds for the Elsberry Food Pantry, the VFW is putting together a fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 19, at their facility on the corner of Hwy. 79 and South Second Street. There will be a raffle, which consists of four box seats to the Blues game on Nov. 9 against the Pittsburg Penguins, a guided tour of Scott Trade Center, a chance to see the player’s suit up before the game, as well as a chance to greet the players.
There will also be a silent auction, which includes a 15 Gallon RPM Tree of the person’s choice, an item donated by Forrest Keeling. In addition to the tree, Eric Lovelace of Lovelace Nature Scapes has donated his time and material to plant the tree. His donation consists of weed barrier and mulch. Other great prizes and silent auction items have been donated by Elsberry businesses and individuals.
The VFW will begin music at noon; hotdogs, chili, nachos and other food will served starting at 1 p.m. There will also be a live DJ/Karaoke starting at 6 p.m. and going until 10 p.m. Door prizes are also available. Bring a non-perishable item to the door and receive a free ticket for the drawing.
