A Lincoln County jury began deliberations Thursday morning in the murder trial of Russell Faria, of Troy.
He is accused of stabbing his wife, Elizabeth Faria, age 42, multiple times on Dec. 27, 2011 in their home located in the Waterbrooke Estates northwest of Troy on Sumac Drive. Authorities placed time at 9:41 p.m. that evening.
Faria was taken into custody that evening but later released. Then Sheriff Mike Krigbaum asked for the assistance of the Major Case Squad and over 100 investigators worked the case.
Police found a steak knife in the victim`s neck when they responded to the scene. Faria called and told authorities that his wife had committed suicide.

Schwartz called several witnesses who said that Faria was at a residence in St. Charles County that evening participating in a
weekly session where the participants enjoyed in playing a role game. The night in questioned the group watched two movies before departing about 9 p.m. They testified that Faria did not leave that residence the entire three hours (6-9 p.m.).
The Farias had been married 12 years prior to the incident.
