Many people could never imagine being able to tell a century worth of life stories. However, Elsberry’s own Virginia Riffle, who just turned 100-years-old on Dec. 7, is one of the few.
In fact, when asked about turning the big 100, she simply replied with, “I’m going to be 110 like Abraham.”
Riffle has been called a blessing and is said to be loved by all. She is widowed, with one grandchild – Ron Riffle, 50, and one great grandchild – Nicholas Riffle, 16, who was named after his great grandfather.
Riffle was born in St. Louis and is the daughter of Eugene and Lizzie Montgomery and the sister of Eugene Montgomery Jr. Before moving to Elsberry, just before starting high school, she spent some time in Foley with her parents on a farm. After graduating from Elsberry High School, Riffle moved back to St. Louis, where she worked for Purina.
