When the lights dim and a hush descends upon an audience of thousands at Bankers Life Fieldhouse during the nation’s largest annual student convention and expo Wednesday, Oct. 24 through Saturday Oct. 27, Elsberry High School Senior Jessie Knox will share the spotlight in a musical performance said to inspire all those who attend.
Knox, of the Elsberry FFA Chapter, has been selected to sing in the National FFA Chorus after submitting an audition tape. She was one of 90 people selected nationwide to become of member of this prestigious group.
The choir will preform several times during the 85th National Convention and Expo, adding excitement and motivation to the sessions through their music. National FFA Chorus members are nominated by their state FFA associations and chosen from a pool or approximately 250 applications. The young musicians arrive in Indianapolis to rehearse three days before the convention is set to begin.
The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization of approximately 540,379 student members making up approximately 7,489 local FFA chapters throughout all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
