Change is definitely in the air this year for the Elsberry R-II School District.
In all, 11 new teachers will be joining the ranks when school doors officially open on Aug. 14.
For starters, Kara Borgsmiller has replaced former high school guidance counselor Julie Basler.
Borgsmiller brings with her a substantial amount of experience from a number of different districts.
“This is my 13th year in education,” said Borgsmiller. “I taught for a couple of years in the Ferguson/Florissant School District and then for five years at Pacific High School where I worked as a social studies teacher.”
Borgsmiller also spent four years at Meramec Valley Middle School in Pacific as an electives teacher.
Borgsmiller is an Illinois native who obtained her undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her graduate degree from Missouri Baptist University.
“I was seeking to move on with my career in counseling and that’s what brought me to Elsberry,” said Borgsmiller. “My hope is to help the students of Elsberry achieve their academic goals.”
