Elsberry Police Chief Robert Bodley took a few moments at the beginning of the December City Council Meeting, on Tuesday, Dec. 12, to recognize Elsberry Officer
Michael Bales and Lieutenant Brian Jefferies for their life saving efforts.
Bales was awarded a plaque and a uniform pin for his tactics on April 3, when he responded to a call to assist EMS. According to Bodley, Bales arrived before EMS, where he preformed CPR, ultimately reviving the person back to life.
“He went above and beyond what his duties require as an officer,” said Bodley. “[We never like being in that kind of position] but he stepped in and saved a life.”
Jefferies was also awarded a plaque and a uniform pin for his life saving efforts on Nov. 5, when he responded to a call to assist EMS. Jefferies along with another citizen arrived on scene where they performed CPR and revived the person before EMS could even arrive.
“Both officers went above and beyond their duties as officers and deserve to be recognized for life saving actions,” said Bodley.
