Cancer is a possibly one of the worst things any person could deal with. It is estimated that every one in three Americans will be or have been diagnosed with cancer this year alone.

Over the years Elsberry residents have come together for multiple fundraisers and events in an effort to help those close to the community as they battle this terrible disease. Unfortunately, the time has come once again.

Carolyn Hammann, pharmacist at Elsberry Rexall, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Bone Cancer. Due to her current condition she has been limited to working only three days a week. In fact, her daughter Rachel Hammann has been working with her mother at the pharmacy to help with some of the workload.

In an effort to help her through her troubling times, The Elsberry Methodist Church will be holding a BUNCO Benefit for Hammann at Libby Clark Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the benefit set to start at 6:30 p.m. with a five dollar per person charge at the door.

There will be refreshments, attendance prizes, purchase items and a “Bakeless Bake Sale” for the evening.

Members of the Elsberry Methodist Church are asking that everyone who can attend please do so. However, for those who cannot attend but would still like to make a donation, contact either Phyllis Cox or Carolyn Black at 573-898-5626.
