It was a full house on Wednesday, Feb. 13, as the Elsberry R-II School Board met for their monthly meeting.
Business was usual at the start of the meeting as the Board called it to order. However, knowing many parents showed to voice their concerns about a teachers resignation, the board made them aware that it would have to be done at the end of the meeting in a closed session, at which time they would bring in each parent to speak, allowing them to maintain their privacy. With nothing to say in open session the meeting moved on.
With no amendments needed, the board then approved the payment of the bills in the amount of $701,435.58 and moved on to Superintendent’s report, where Tim Reller, Ed.D. stated that total revenues equaled $1,824,366.69 and expenses of $633,623.41 and an ending cash balance, of all funds, of $3,444,809.86.
“As far as our operating budget, our ending cash balance was $2,484,394.62, which is $103,683.22 less than one-year ago for January,” said Reller. “We’ve talked all year that it’s been fund for, we’re starting to get closer. Now that does include $47,000 of architect fees that were paid through January.”
