The Elsberry Indians Cross Country team competed at the Bowling Green Invitational on Friday, Oct. 25. With 19 schools present, they were able to pull off a third place victory and still leave room for improvement.

Not to far behind was Maggie Spratt, who came in 19th with a time of 24:04; both girls medaled. “We finished third behind Bowling Green and Lutheran – Saint Peters,” stated Head Coach Ezra Tillotson.
Jack Weakly was the only Elsberry boy to come out the box during the event and finished in 49th place with a time of 20:58.
“We are one week away from the District/State Qualifier,” said Tillotson. All our kids made good runs this past week, but they still have their best performances ahead of them.”
According to Tillotson, the will run their District meet on the same Bowling Green course, which for him is an advantage, as now the kids know the course and how to use it.
“Our kids are hungry and training hard,” said Tillotson. “Our next meet will determine what teams qualify for State, but whatever the final result, we will be very competitive and ready.”
