“We have just been very inconsistent,” said Pott. “Too many errors and lack of hitting has really hurt us early on.”
Despite the early trouble, Pott did say he liked where is pitching was at and that he knows the offense will come around.
In legion play the teams use wooden bats compared to metal ones and Pott stated that it always takes it a little longer to get those wooded bats hot.
Last week Post 226 faced off against Daniel Boone on June 11 and Joe Ilgenfritz threw a no-hitter shutting out Daniel Boone 7-0. He recorded 12 strikeouts and walked four batters.
The offense was led by Dylan Howard (3-5, 2B, 2R, 2RBI’s) and Bradley Jordan (2-5, 2B, 1R, 1RBI). David Goddard, Brennen Hurley, Michael Ligon, Darren Feldeworth and Jordan Powell each had a hit.
The following night Post 226 traveled to O’Fallon to play the West Jaguars AAA team.
Despite a ninth inning comeback Elsberry fell to West 9-5. Left-hander Josh Phillips took the loss going 7.1 innings giving up seven runs three earned on four hits. He struck out seven and walked three.
Elsberry was able to get eight hits and was led by a double and a triple from Dale Diederich. He scored two runs and drove in three. Powell picked up three hits and Hurley added two himself.
