For Jim Hale and a number of other Elsberry residents living along Ehmler Lane the disparity between the treatment they and their road have received over the course of the last several years and the focus that Hatfield Road and Old Hwy. 79 in Elsberry are currently benefitting from is something they can no longer ignore.
Ehmler Acres, located just off of Hwy. W, has been in existence for approximately 20 years and during that time period the road that passes through the neighborhood, Ehmler Lane, has had a gravel surface.
Hale, who has resided at 83 Ehmler Lane for the last 10 years, is one of several residents who would like to see the road paved.
He said that this is primarily a health and safety issue due to the fact that when it rains and the temperature is below freezing the gravel on Ehmler Lane collects water and the road subsequently freezes.
Hale’s wife and other residents along the road have had a number of close calls in recent years while trying to navigate the frozen lane during severe winter weather.
