The Elsberry Historic Preservation Society [E.H.P.S.] will be holding its annual dinner/fundraiser on Aug. 23 in the parish hall of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 710 Lincoln Street in Elsberry.
The featured speakers for the event will be Charles H. “Pheeze” Kemper of Troy and his wife Mary Anne.
Charles Kemper is a sixth generation descendant of Martin Kemper, an early settler to Lincoln County.
Martin Kemper’s great grandfather immigrated from Muesen, Germany and settled in Culpepper County, Virginia in 1714.
In 2009, Charles and Mary Anne traveled to Germany and followed the trail of their ancestors who became some of the earliest settlers of the Elsberry area.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
The presentation by the Kempers will take place immediately following the dinner.
A silent auction will also be conducted throughout the evening.
