Drake Vaughn Mashek, son of Floyd and Kera Mashek celebrated his first birthday in the home of his maternal grandparents Duck and Brigitte Steavenson in Elsberry on Nov. 23. A sports themed party featured a baseball cake for the birthday boy.
Drake’s guests were his great-great Aunt Margaret Ann Herring; great-grandparents, James and Nona Painter; great Uncle Craig and Aunt Jennifer Painter, their sons Blake and Adam; Uncle Kyle Steavenson and April Delehaunty; Aunt Tanya Morris and son Colton. Also attending were a host of cousins: Clare Painter and John Parr, Nick and Katie Painter, Ben and Casey Painter, Will Painter and Ashley Tipton, Marc Painter and Katelyn Conroy, Sam Painter and Erin Schimke.
Sending gifts were great Uncle Joe and Aunt Julie Wayman, great Aunt Rhonda Boedeker and Ginny Patterson.
A second party was held in Drake’s honor at his Aunt Betty Mashek’s home in Troy on Saturday, Nov. 24. This was a Mickey Mouse/Disney themed party. Others celebrating with Drake were his parents; great-grandparents Floyd and Betty Lindsey; grandparents Steve and Dail Mashek, grandmother Sheila Grana, Aunt Sheena Mashek and Dustin Bryan, her daughter Stacey; Uncle CJ and Aunt Jennifer Mashek, their children Jake and Ava; Uncle Vaughn and Aunt Shannon Mashek, their sons Lane, Xander and Lukis; Uncle Danny Cox, children Daniel and Ella; Uncle Matt Mashek, Uncle Tony Thompson, Aunt Moriah Copeland, children Dorian and Maya, Aunt Megan Picker and son Aidan. A highlight of this gathering; Aunt Shannon (a professional hairdresser) gave Drake his first haircut.
Drake will officially turn one on Tuesday, Dec. 11 back home with his parents in Waterloo, Iowa.
