Over the last couple of years the City of Elsberry has been able to remove vacant, derelict structures with the help of a Demolition Grant Project.
The city now has some extra funds to continue this project.
During the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 10, Mayor Steve Wilch reported that despite sending letters to numerous landlords they received no applications.
Anyone with a residential home or building that has been vacant for at least 12 months can qualify for the Demolition Grant Project.
“The City of Elsberry will be happy to work with any individual owner and/or landlord to clean up derelict homes and buildings in our community to make it look better,” stated the letter sent to landlords.
Applications for the Demolition Grant Project can be picked up at Elsberry City Hall at 201 Broadway Street.
