For the second week in a row the Clopton-Elsberry IndianHawks recorded a “W” in the record books, this time with a 20-6 win over the Van-Far Indians on Friday night.
One week after an explosive 100 (64-36) point combined effort against Principia, Friday at Van-Far looked more like a traditional game.
With the IndianHawks the favorite’s going into the game, Head Coach Lynn Nutt, hoped his team wasn’t over confident.
“We tried our best to tell the kids that VanFar is a good team, but due to the success this team has had the past few years, I feel the kids didn’t quite believe us,” said Coach Nutt. “VanFar is bigger than us, and their quarterback (Ethan Gooch) was just as good as we (the staff) thought.”
According to Coach Nutt, the Indians came out with a game plan to slow down the fast paced IndianHawks, and they did just that allowing only 47 offensive plays.
