Four Indians receive East Missouri All-Conference honors

While baseball will always be a team oriented sport, four Elsberry Indian High School Baseball members received All-Conference honors this past week. Senior Matt Henry was named First-Team All-Conference Infield; Tyler Turnbull, Jon Almus and Zach Rimel were all named to Second-Team All-Conference honors. Other local area honorees were: First-Team All-Conference Outfield, Colton Groshong (Silex) and First-Team All-Conference Utility, Matt Mueller (Silex).

  • Elsberry Legion Baseball Field gets new look

  • EHS track and field athletes strive but fall short at sectionals

    Elsberry’s varsity track and field teams traveled to Park Hills on May 16 to compete in the sectional meet and determine who, if anyone, would move on to state.   • Indians advance with a win over Clark County

    Grant Black’s two-out double enabled Elsberry to take an early 2-0 lead over Clark County in the first round of the district tournament on May 18. Clark County came back to tie it, but Elsberry eventually pulled out a 4-2 victory.

    Elsberry’s varsity baseball team advanced to the second round of the district tournament with a 4-2 win over Clark County on May 18. Zach Rimel took the mount for Elsberry that night and put on quite a performance. Rimel pitched six and one-third innings while striking out 10 batters. He allowed only six hits and two earned runs.     The Lady Owls/Lady Indians celebrated their Senior Night festivities on May 11 prior to a home game against Hannibal. Senior members of the team included Tanner Bencomo, Leanna Helm, Ashley Hagan and Maria Gissenass. Senior members of the golf and track and field teams were honored as well.   • Hill returns to state; Kinsler, Womack just miss cut

    Gavin Hill qualified to compete in the state golf meet by shooting a 78 at sectionals on May 11. The state meet will be held in Springfield on May 18 and 19.

    Three of Elsberry’s varsity golfers traveled to the sectional golf meet in Kirksville on May 11 to test their metal against a number of athletes from other schools.
