    Elsberry’s Varsity Soccer Team started off last week’s action with a 5-1 loss to St. Charles on the road on Sept. 3. “It was a very physical game,” said Head Coach Dustin Robinson. “We gave up a goal early but managed to tie the game at 1-1.” Rodney Chatman scored Elsberry’s lone goal and Dalton Barber was credited with the assist.   • South Callaway hands IndianHawks first loss of the season

    South Callaway proved to be too much for the Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks on Sept. 5 as they handed them their first loss of the season. The IndianHawks are now 2-1 heading into this Friday’s contest against Mark Twain.

    The Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks are now 2-1 after being defeated 53-14 by South Callaway during their third game of the 2014 football season. “South Callaway is a really good team,” said IndianHawks Head Coach Mike Scheibel. “At the 2A level when you have speed and strength it is a deadly combo.” Scheibel said that in addition to South Callaway’s natural talent they are also well coached, which made them even more

    After opening their softball season with a 13-2 loss to Louisiana on Aug. 26 the Elsberry Lady Indians went in to last week with a busy schedule of three consecutive games.   • Elsberry defeats Mexico in season opener

    Elsberry’s varsity boy’s soccer team kicked off the season in fine fashion with a 4-3 victory over the Mexico Bulldogs on Aug. 26. Elsberry got off to an early lead in the game only to watch the Bulldogs come back to tie the contest at 2-2 in the first few minutes of the second half.     IndianHawks Quarterback Stephen Talbert threw for 163 yards during the Clopton/Elsberry 58-0 win over North Shelby on Aug. 29.

    The Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks continued their winning ways and improved their record to 2-0 with a 58-0 win over the North Shelby Raiders on Aug. 29.     The Elsberry Lady Indians started the 2014 softball season off on a disappointing note with a 13-2 loss to the Louisiana Lady Bulldogs on Aug. 26.     Changes are in store for Elsberry’s Cross Country Program in 2014. “Elsberry has been moved to Class 2,” said Head Coach Ezra Tillotson. Most of the schools in that group are private and the majority of those are all male. “That means our boys are going to get some tremendous competition,” said Tillotson.
