  • IndianHawks suffer season ending loss at Districts

    The Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks were unable to hold off the Van-Far Indians during the first round of district play on Oct. 24. Van-Far did most of their scoring early and despite an offensive flurry by the IndianHawks in the second half the game ended in a 26-24 loss for Clopton/Elsberry.

    It’s often said that revenge is a dish best served cold and the Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks experienced that first hand during the first round of district football play on Oct. 24. A few weeks earlier, the IndianHawks pulled off a razor-thin 14-12 victory over the Van-Far Indians during homecoming. They drew that same opponent for the first round of districts. This time, however, the Indians were ready to return the favor.

  • Kinsler, Gladney medal at Bowling Green

    Elsberry’s Naomi Gladney earned a medal at the Oct. 24 Bowling Green Invitational with her seventh place finish and a time of 22:38.

    Elsberry’s Varsity Cross-Country teams competed against 19 other schools during the Bowling Green Cross-Country Invitational on Oct. 24. The girls 5K saw 61 harriers leave the line at the 4 p.m. gun. Naomi Gladney led the Elsberry pack and earned a medal with a seventh place finish and a time of 22:38. “I was pretty pleased with that time,” said Head Coach Ezra Tillotson.   • Indians end regular season in a 1-1 tie with Winfield Warriors

    Elsberry’s varsity soccer team finished the regular season with a home game against Winfield on Oct. 23. “We scored early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick by Ben Rhoades then we gave up a goal with about two minutes left in the game,” said Head Coach Dustin Robinson.   • Finishing the season in a sprint

    Clopton High School hosted their annual Cross-Country Hamburger Meet on Oct. 13. Twelve schools completed in the mud meet, the competitions having been postponed twice due to heavy rains. Boys and girls leave the line together in Clopton races and standing pools of water as well as a quickly chopped course added challenges for Elsberry’s harriers.
