Lovelace’s Chics represent Elsberry in Playoffs

The scene was set Thursday night, “win and your in”. That was what the Elsberry Chics softball team, coached by Carolyn Lovelace and Don Mooney, faced against Moscow Mills. Win is what they did with a score of 8-6 and they secured their spot in the playoffs. The Chics finished the season 9-3 and faced Troy on Tuesday night in Elsberry.   • Legion Baseball Recap July 16-July 23

    Legion Baseball in Elsberry is officially over for the summer. The only action remaining is that of the A and AA All Star Games which will be played at New Haven on July 26. The Elsberry A teams, coached by Jeff Keiser and Jason Howard, ended their season  on July 12 at the district tournament.   • Elsberry sends cream of the crop to Legion All Star Games

    With the Elsberry Legion Baseball Season officially over, all eyes will now be turning to the A and AA All Star Games which will be played on July 26 in New Haven. This year Elsberry will be well represented in both games. At the A level, Post #226 will be sending John Hogan, Blake Kendall and Steve Boedeker, all of whom played on Jeff Keiser’s team this season. Spencer Keiser

    Legion Baseball in Elsberry is winding down for the summer but all three remaining teams were in action this past week determined to finish with a sprint. Joe Pott’s AAA squad lost to St. Peters 18-0 on the road on July 8 but rebounded to defeat Oklahoma by a final score of 4-2 on July 9.     Elsberry American Legion Post #226 AAA team that took second place in the Fourth of July Tournament

    Legion Baseball has once again reached a fevered pitch in Elsberry. Gregg White’s AA team started last week off with a doubleheader against Warrenton on July 2. Elsberry won both games by scores of 6-0 and 18-1, respectively. White’s team then played Pacific on the road in a game that ended with no score. Elsberry’s AA team took to the road for the rest of the week following that game

  • MSHSAA weighs-in on Porter’s eligibility

    The Missouri State High School Activities Association Board of Directors met on June 18, at which time they considered the situation that the Elsberry R-II School District finds itself in, involving an arrest of a student athlete (Rahiem Porter) in December 2013.     Elsberry’s Legion Baseball players were busy wrapping up the regular season this week. Elsberry’s  A and AAA teams [coached by Jason Howard and Joe Pott, respectively] started things off on June 24 with games on the road and at home. Howard’s A team lost 9-0 to St. Charles at home, followed by a 4-0 loss to Washington at home that same night. Pott’s AAA team was victorious on the road
