  • Kirby performs at Elsberry United Methodist Church

    On Dec. 28 the Elsberry United Methodist Church hosted an organ and violin recital by Mitchell Kirby [above]. Kirby is originally from Troy and is currently a student at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. He treated those in attendance to a number of classical pieces on both the organ and the violin, which he began playing when he was only four years old.

“Come on dad, they’re playing my favorite song!”

On March 7 some of Elsberry’s dads showed up with their best girls on their arms to participate in the annual Elsberry R-II Father-Daughter Dance. The event took place in the school cafeteria and featured a live disc jockey, balloons and refreshments. Pictured above are those brave souls who chose to break the ice and get out on the dance floor early.

  • Clarksville Library events shine spotlight on local talent

    Authors Shelley Marie [left] and Elizabeth Wight Herring [right] will appear at book signing events at the Clarksville Library in March and July.

    Beginning this month the Clarksville Library will be hosting a series of book signing events by a number of local authors. The series will begin on March 28 with a signing by Elizabeth Wight Herring, the author of “Still Swinging In Wonderland”. Herring will be followed on April 25 by Dr. David J. Henderson. Henderson has written a book titled “Why America is Sick, but you don’t have to be”.

  • 50 Miles of Art Tour returns in March

    The 50 Miles of Art Studio and Gallery Tour will take place on March 28-29. This biannual event is hosted by dozens of artists that live and work in the three Mississippi River towns of Clarksville, Louisiana and Hannibal. The towns are all located on Route 79.
