E.H.P.S. hosts 2014 dinner/fundraiser

On Aug. 23 the Elsberry Historic Preservation Society [E.H.P.S.] held its annual dinner/fundraiser in the parish hall of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. The featured speakers for the event were Charles H. “Pheeze” Kemper of Troy and his wife Mary Anne.     The 21st Century Community Learning Center grant in the Elsberry R-II school district has been renewed for the 2014-2015 school year. The $199,422.00 renewal will provide 80 percent of the funds necessary to operate the Explorer’s Club afterschool program. Tuition will support the remaining portion.   • Lincoln County Sheriff’s office announces 2014-2015 D.A.R.E. Dance schedule

    The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will host fifth, sixth and seventh grade Dare Dances starting this month. Due to low turnout over the last several years, the Sheriff’s Office will no longer host eighth graders. The proceeds from these dances help support the Sheriff’s Office youth summer camp in June.
