Last summer six members of Elsberry’s high school cheerleading squad performed so well before camp judges that they each qualified to cheer as members of the Capital One Bowl All American Cast during the Capital One Bowl halftime performance in Orlando on Jan. 1. That honor came with a price tag, however, as each of those six cheerleaders was required to pay approximately $1,400 [travel not included] for the privilege

    The Elsberry Lady Indians finished off last week with an away game against the Louisiana Lady Bulldogs on Jan. 23. Elsberry defeated Louisiana earlier in the season during the consolation round of the Clopton Tournament and Head Coach Hector Bencomo said prior to the Jan. 23 game that he was concerned the Lady Bulldogs would be hungry for revenge. With the number one seed at Districts locked up the Elsberry Lady Indians headed to Montgomery County on Saturday to take part in the first annual EMO Conference Softball Tournament. After the dust cleared Elsberry captured a second place finish propelling them into the playoffs this week. “The weekend was very successful overall.     For the third straight game the Elsberry Lady Indians offense was shutdown 7-0 Monday night against “Softball Powerhouse” Palmyra Lady Panthers in Elsberry.     Indians get number one seed as they look to enter Districts on Saturday, May 12 at 10 a.m. in Monroe City, with their first game against Van Far. If they win there they will play again on Monday, May 14 at 4:30 p.m. Following a victory there they will head into the championship game on Wednesday, May 16 at 5 p.m.   District 7 Tournament Bracket
