Kirby performs at Elsberry United Methodist Church

On Dec. 28 the Elsberry United Methodist Church hosted an organ and violin recital by Mitchell Kirby [above]. Kirby is originally from Troy and is currently a student at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. He treated those in attendance to a number of classical pieces on both the organ and the violin, which he began playing when he was only four years old.

  • Senate Theater hosts Star Wars marathon

    Elsberry’s Senate Theatre hosted a Star Wars marathon the weekend of Aug. 30-31. All six of the blockbuster films were shown during the course of the two-day marathon. On Saturday, movie goers were treated to “The Phantom Menace”, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”.     Car Cruise at Cadillac Bills

    The last Sunday evening of every month, take a trip up north Hwy. 79 through Elsberry and allow yourself to be taken back-in-time as Cadillac Bills holds their monthly Car Cruise.   • DAREDEVILS Wankel and Jones…very brave souls

    During the morning hours on Monday, Elsberry Elementary students had the opportunity to watch BMX bikers perform tricks and stunts. A special half-pipe ramp was set up in the Elementary School parking lot as numerous bikers did flips, jumps and much more. At one point, Elementary Principal Toni Wankel and fourth grade teacher Sherrill Jones sat atop the ramp while a BMX rider performed a 360°flip.

                          Great minds filled the American Legion Hall on Saturday night for the 5th Annual Marcella Whitehead Scholarship Trivia Night. The money raised goes to numerous scholarships for Elsberry High School graduating seniors.
