The Elsberry Indian Soccer team only had one game this past week and once again they found themselves in a tough spot with a 4-0 loss to Lutheran.

“Lutheran is currently on the bubble of entering the top ten rankings for small schools in the St. Louis area,” said Head Coach Dustin Robinson.

Robinson said although he was satisfied with his teams effort in the first half, the mistakes are still holding them back. The Indians gave up a goal in the first half and was down 1-0 going into the second.

“Against a good team like Lutheran, when you make a mistake they will capitalize,” said Robinson. “We would generate a few scoring opportunities early in the second half, but couldn’t find the back of the net. I felt this was the toughest game we had played against them so far.”

According to Robinson, the Elsberry seniors set the tone and everyone else followed in their footsteps.

“We had a good crowd at the game last night and the team would like to thank the fans for coming out and supporting,” said Robinson. “These guys have continued to take steps in the right direction and are looking forward the season finale.”

Next up for the Elsberry Indians is a rematch with the Winfield Warriors at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

“We have had two great games with Winfield and expect this one to be nothing less,” said Robinson.
