FCE sponsors Fourth Grade Essay Contest

The Lincoln County Family and Community Education (FCE) members join members across the nation in sponsoring an Essay and Artwork Contest for fourth grade students. This contest is held annually, with the 2013 theme of “RESPECT,” one of the Six Pillars of Character. Students are to write an essay and create a hand-drawn picture depicting the theme.

This FCE nationwide contest provides an opportunity for students to improve literacy skills and develop ethical values. The contest is open to any fourth grade-level student attending public, private or home school.

The contest runs from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31. For complete information on the contest, please contact Peggy Jost at 636-528-2188 or Mary Jo Sandell at 636-462-7877.

The Lincoln County Family and Community Education essay winner from 2012 was Kristopher Shramek, son of Larry and Kari Shramek of Silex. Not only did Kristopher place first in the local contest, his essay went on to be placed first at the District, State and National level. Congratulations to Kristopher and his family on this wonderful achievement.
