The outside wall of Broadway Flowers & Fountain came crashing down sometime late Saturday night, early Sunday morning. No injuries occurred and the wall was examined to make sure there was no structural damage inside.

Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning, Broadway Flowers & Fountain had an unprovoked mishap as the east facing exterior wall collapsed.
“When we first wanted to open this business, that particular wall was already bowed,” explained Broadway Flowers Co-Owner Robin Remmert-Stafstrom. “In fact, David wouldn’t let Fay [Mayes, Co Owner of Broadway Flowers] do anything until we had it checked out.”
Although they knew at some point that wall may go, they were given the ok, as it would not hurt or damage the interior walls of the building. The building itself is a double-stacked brick, meaning that there is still one more layer of wall before reaching an interior wall.
“When we had it looked at, previously, we were told it would fall just as it did,” said Remmert-Stafstrom. “No one was hurt and nothing was damaged. Before we even opened the next morning we had the Fire Chief, Kevin Hailey, look at it and he gave us the go ahead.”
The repairs do not fall on the responsibility of Broadway Flowers but on the building owner and currently at this time there is no time frame as to when it will be fixed or how much it will cost. All Remmert-Stafstrom could say is that she knows it won’t be cheap.
“We are still open and as mentioned there are no concerns of further issues,” said Remmert-Stafstrom.
