Accident leaves one injured

IMG_0666An error in judgment left one person injured following and automobile accident at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 on Hwy. 79, just south of Elsberry.

According to the accident report, the driver of a newer model white four door sedan was attempting to turn around using the Forest Keeling commuter lot. When they approached Hwy. 79, they were unaware that Mike Hickerson, of Plainville, Il, was coming over the crest of the hill. Hickerson, who was driving a 2000 Ford F-250, struck the driver of the sedan causing injury.

The driver was taken to Saint Joe’s West Hospital by Lincoln County Ambulance and the vehicle was towed by Jackson’s Automotive in Elsberry.

Hickerson suffered no injuries, nor did his passenger Mary Hickerson. According to reports, his vehicle only suffered minor damage and they were able to drive away from the accident.

Responding units were the Elsberry Police department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Elsberry Fire Protection and the Lincoln County Ambulance District three.
